4 Tips to Refresh Your Space For Summer

Listen, I can find almost any excuse to refresh my space, but a change of season is definitely one of the most common and, in my opinion, necessary. There are so many reasons to give your home a little refresh for Summer. Not only are the days longer and the weather warmer, but you may also find yourself entertaining more often or even just feeling the need for an energy shift! Whatever your reason is, I support you.

Just to be clear, I’m not talking about fully renovating and redecorating your home every season. It might seem obvious, but sometimes people get intimidated about changing their space up because they think it’s going to come with a huge bill! PSA: I’m here to remind you that it doesn’t have to break the bank.

There are so many small and affordable ways to refresh your space for Summer, and girl, I’m here to help. I could honestly go on and on about this topic because as you know by now, talking about home decor and DIY projects is my jam, but I thought we’d start with four simple tips that I feel like anyone can incorporate into any space. From the living room to the bedroom, here are some ideas on how to bring some Summer energy indoors for the season.

Get Rid of Heavier Layers

If you’re like me, you probably have lots of cozy fabrics laying around in the Fall/Winter. This could mean warm throw blankets, heavy comforters, and even thicker pillowcases. However, heavy layers and warm fabrics aren’t exactly “Summer friendly”. Instead, I love to incorporate light fabrics, and one of my all-time favorites is linen.

Not only is it lightweight, but it’s also very timeless and goes with almost any room’s aesthetic. I recently got a duvet cover and a sheet set from Cultiver and it is absolutely perfect for my bedroom on warm, Summer nights. It’s simultaneously cozy without being too hot. Tyler was hesitant to change to linen sheets, but he was shocked at the smooth and soft texture of the Cultiver sheets! I highly recommend them.

Add a Pop of Color

I’m sure you can grasp that I am all about neutrals when it comes to my decor, but come Summertime, why not add some colors to brighten things up? If there’s ever a time to do it, it’s now. This can be as elaborate as painting an accent wall in one of your rooms (if so, I recommend Clare paint!), but it can also be as simple as sourcing some accent pillows or trinkets, such as vases, in these fun colors. Don’t be afraid to mix and match sheet and duvet colors as well! Some Summer colors I’m loving right now are pink, aqua blue, and violet.

Find a Summer Fragrance

Changing up the vibe visually is one thing, but a good Summer fragrance goes a long way in completely shifting the atmosphere. While Fall is a great time for candles, I love using room and linen mists in the Summer to freshen things up. One of my favorite brands is HEIM Goods — their bottles are super chic and the fragrances aren’t too overpowering while also having a good throw to them! For Summer, I recommend Citrus Skies and The Beach. Trust me, you’re going to be obsessed!

Add Fresh Flowers

Now I know this is not a groundbreaking concept (I’m looking at you Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada), but hey, if the trend ain’t broke don’t fix it. There is a reason florals have stood the test of time when it comes to home decorating, and Spring/Summer is the ideal time to get some beautiful blooms in your space. Not sure what to get this year? Well, if I were to buy you a bouquet, I would probably go for Dinnerplate Dahlias, Peonies, and honestly, Baby’s Breath is having a moment right now!

I hope you were able to find some good tips in this blog! What are your favorite Summer decor trends and/or timeless additions? I’m always down to get more ideas from other decor enthusiasts, so leave a comment and let me know what you do to brighten things up. Thanks for reading — now, get out there and enjoy the sun! 🌞
