My Last Month of Pregnancy

Here I am, on bed rest yet again, trying to remember how I felt a mere year ago, when I was going through my last month of pregnancy with Liam. I felt prepared and confident that I had all of the tools to ensure having a newborn baby would be smooth sailing. Oh how wrong I was (that’s another blog, coming soon!)

Last week, I reached out to my fellow mamas on the gram to hear some of their top tips and tricks for enjoying the last trimester of pregnancy. There were so many great ideas that I felt I just had to share them all with you. The general theme of ideas revolves around self-care and taking time to yourself during these final four weeks. With the climate of the world right now, it’s more important than ever to do your best to be calm, cool, and collected when your new babe joins you earthside.

One of the recommendations I had over the weekend was to put your bare feet planted in the ground. This is actually a popular way of reducing inflammation called ‘earthing.’ Dr. Jeff Spencer is an Olympic athlete and 8-time Tour de France–winning team doctor who practices earthing with his athletes. He has found that earthing accelerates tissue repair and wound healing from injuries that athletes often encounter. Among the benefits, he also reported from his patients: better sleep, less pain, more energy, and faster recovery.

Next, I’d originally suggested lounging by a pool or ocean in a pretty dress. But, with COVID19 running rampant, all of the beaches and pools are closed across the country. It’s no doubt that July in LA is hot, hot, hot, so you’ll want to cool down somehow. If you’ve got the back yard space, I highly recommend purchasing an inflatable pool. These Minnidip’s are luxurious and trendy as hell. Add some essential oils to your water, paired with my closet staple (a black flowy dress from Hatch and favorite Miu Miu shades,) and you’re guaranteed to have a lovely sunny afternoon.

If the backyard oasis isn’t an option, you could even pamper yourself to an at home spa day! Pull out your favorite face mask, paint your finger nails (even ask your S.O. to paint your toes) and just relax. Cut some cucumber, slap them over your beautiful eyes, and pretend you’re hanging out on a sunny beach. Wherever you are, it’s important to enjoy some moments of silence & swoon over that beautiful baby bump. Just don’t forget to enjoy a pretty, icy cold mocktail!

Lastly, many other mamas were recommending using a baby belly band! The band can immediately relieve pregnancy pains including abdominal and round ligament pain, hernias, and hip discomfort. The straight cut of the band allows you to wear it across your lower hips for joint discomfort or higher on your hips to lift and support your belly. This product is great because it can be used before, during and after pregnancy!

What are some of your tips and hacks for the last month of pregnancy? Stay tuned for next week when I go through the contents of my hospital bag!
